Documents required for new GST Registration for Proprietorship Business

GST has been started in India from 1st July, 2017. Taxpayers who are engaged in Intra-state transaction (i.e. sale within state) need to register under GST if their annual gross turnover exceeds Rs. 20 lakhs. However in case of inter-state transaction (i.e. sale to other state) taxpayers need to register under GST whether is annual gross turnover is below 20 lakh.





 
Small taxpayers are also allowed to register themselves in GST Composition Scheme if their annual gross turnover is below 75 lakh and they are engaged in only intra state transaction.

In this article you will find which documents are needed for new GST registration in case of Proprietorship Business. You need to fill PART-A and then PART-B in GST portal to complete the registration process.


Documents needed for New GST Registration

PART-A

 
1. PAN CARD : PAN Card is needed for 
  • Permanent Account No. of Taxpayer
  • Name of taxpayer
  • Legal name of business (PAN holder's name)

2. MOBILE NO : For OTP verification.

3. EMAIL : For OTP Verification

After successful PART-A registration, a Temporary Reference Number (TRN) will be provided. You need to enter TRN in PART-B to access and fill PART-B of  registration from.

PART-B

4. TRADE LICENSE : Trade license is required for trade name of business.


5. AADHAAR CARD : Aadhaar is required for Aadhaar no. & residencial address proof of taxpayer.
In case there is any authorised signatory, then aadhaar card of that person is required

6. COLOR PHOTO : Color photo is need to upload. You may also take instant photograph by webcam or any other device camera.

7. PROOF OF PLACE OF BUSINESS :

Ownership
  • Property Tax receipt/
  • Electric bill/
  • Municipal khata copy/
  • Legal ownership document
Rented
  • Rent receipt/
  • Rent agreement/                                      
  • Electric bill
  • Municipal khata copy
  • Property tax receipt
  • Legal ownership document

8. BANK ACCOUNT :  Bank account no, account type, IFSC code is need. One of the following documents should be uploaded a s aproof of bank account.
  • First page of Pass book/
  • Bank statement/
  • Cancelled cheque/

9. PROFESSION TAX ENROLLMENT : Profession Tax enrollment is also required.

10. DIGITAL SIGNATURE/ E-Sign/ EVC : Digital Signature Certificate is not mandatory for proprietorship business. You may verify your application with E-sign if you have a mobile no registered with Aadhaar.
You may also verify your application EVC sent to your registered email & mobile no in GST portal. This is the easy option.

After successful submission of application, an ARN (Application Reference Number) will be sent to registered email & mobile no. You can check your application status with that ARN. Generally GSTIN (Goods & Services Tax Identification Number) will sent to the registered email & mobile no within 3 working days, but currently it takes more than 3 working days due to heavy work pressure.


Note:
Please upload clear image of valid supporting documents , otherwise you will receive a clarification notice from GST. In that case you need to upload a fresh copy of your valid supported document again. So, be careful, if you want to get GSTIN quickly.
