Several changes have been made in the ITR forms for the assessment year- 2017-18 by the Income Tax Department of India.
Old ITR 4 form has been renamed as ITR 3 for a.y. 2017-18

Important news is ITR 3 changed again on 23rd June 2017. There is no official notice about this change in the official website of Income Tax Department. But if you try to e-file with previously downloaded ITR 3 form for AY 2017-18, you will see the error message.
The message starts with ' At line number 58:......................'

This happens because a new item added in ITR 3 and that is sec 92E. In the Audit information column of PART A general of ITR3, a new item 'Are you liable for audit u/s 92E' added.

- A proprietory Business or Profession or
- House property/salary/pension or income from other sources ( where salary/pension is the only income source, in that case ITR 1 has to be filed instead of ITR 3 )
